The biggest problem is usually keeping warm, so waterproofs and warm (old) clothes and a hat are the best thing to wear. Jeans are a bad idea, as they stay cold when wet.

If you don’t have your own waterproofs, don’t worry as we have waterproof one-piece coveralls you can borrow. A coverall is better than a fell walking top and trousers, as the trousers tend to fill with water and end up around your knees.
As well as coveralls, we provide buoyancy aids and helmets if needed, at no additional cost.

If you have a wet suit even better, but please don’t put children in wet suits that are much too big for them. To work properly they need to be reasonably close fitting. As long as they are ok on the torso, the legs and arms don’t matter, as they can just be turned up.

Footwear - old trainers or plimsolls, not wellintons or sandals. Wellies fill with water and sandals don’t protect your feet.

If we are blessed with good weather, remember sun cream and this time shorts and t-shirt, and most importantly a hat. Also bring drinks to take out with you.
The water can still be cold so a waterproof top is still a good idea even on a sunny day.

If you wear glasses or sunglasses, a strap or ‘croaky’ will stop them getting lost overboard.

Most importantly, bring a change of warm clothes for when we come off the water, and a towel for the shower.

Any other questions please contact the training secretary.
