Offshore Section
B&FYC is one of the few clubs in the country to provide keelboat racing throughout the year.
In the winter months the winter and frostbite series are held in the River Wyre, usually racing every other Sunday.
In general, races last approximately 1hr 30min.
From April to October the Morecambe Bay Points Series is raced, starting from Fleetwood as the tide begins to ebb, returning on the next tide.
Longer races are held, for example to the Isle of Man. Local boats regularly compete away from the club, with great success.
In that past few years the have been B&FYC entries in the Fastnet Race, The Round Ireland Race, the Falmouth the Lisbon Race, West Highland Week and the Half Ton Cub.
In addition to racing the club has an active crusing fleet, who organise cruises to near and far watering holes.
FACILITIES
Berthing at B&FYC is along side drying wooden jetties, along the shore adjacent to the club.
In 1996 a new slipway and travel hoist was aquired, allowing boats of up to 10 tons to be lifted out and stored ashore. In additions to this drying posts are available on the slipway.
