Regulations for use of the Boat Park, Jetties, Slipways, Boat Hoist and Cradles at B&FYC
General
The Club Facilities and Equipment are for the sole use of B & FYC Members.
  1. The Ships Husband controls the use of the Club's Boat Park, Jetties, Slipways, Boat Hoist and Cradles.
  2. Use of the above facilities is subject to the owner signing a copy of these regulations.
  3. Permission to use any of the above facilities must be obtained from the Ships Husband giving a minimum of 7 days notice.
  4. The following information will be required depending on the facility or equipment to be used: -
a.     Boat draught and beam
b.     Boat weight
c.      Keel details
d.     Method of supporting boat e.g. Chocks, Cradle or Trailer
e.     Arrival Date
f.        Expected length of stay
5.      Whilst on Club property members boats must be maintained in a clean and tidy manner.
6.      Use of Electricity and water
a.      Electricity and water are supplied free of charge for carrying out light general maintenance work on boats.
b.      Trailing leads and hoses must not be left unattended and any so found will be disconnected and moved.
c.      If an electric or water supply is required for use other than light maintenance then arrangements must be made with the ships’ husband and an additional charge will be levied.
Legitimacy
1.      Boats using the facilities must belong to the person signing this agreement who must be a member of the Club.
2.      The boats name must be registered with the Membership Secretary.
3.      Should the boat be sold to another member or non-member then the Membership Secretary and Ships Husband should be informed within 14 days.
4.      Should the boat be sold to a non-member then:-
a.      Revised fees will be applicable.
b.      Payment of these will be the responsibility of the member.
c.      Removal of the boat will be required within one month of the sale unless the buyer becomes a member of the Club.
d.      The member remains responsible for ensuring suitable insurance is maintained.
Indemnity
It is a requirement that all members ensure that they are suitably insured prior to using any club equipment or facilities. This must include liability for third party risks of at least £2,000,000. The clubs accepts no liability in damages or otherwise for injury to persons or property arising out of the use of any of the facilities or equipment provided, and all persons using them do so at their own risk.
Club Slipways
  1. The north clubhouse slipway is for the launching of dinghies only.
  2. The south slipway is available to offshore yachts and powerboats.
Club Jetties
  1. Available for short stays to carry out maintenance work.
  2. Maximum length of stay 2 weeks unless previously agreed with the Ship's Husband.
Club Hoist
  1. The hoist will lift yachts up to a maximum weight of 10 tons subject to length, draft and beam limitations.
  2. The ships’ husband will provide a crew to recover launch and position boats on the hard.
  3. The boat owner must provide an experienced crew of at least 2.
Club Cradles
  1. There are 2 cradles
a.     Cradle No 1 (YC20). For the use of yachts up to a maximum weight of 6 Tons and draft of 5ft 7ins;
b.     Cradle No 2 (YC30). For the use of yachts up to a maximum weight of 6 Tons and draft of 6ft 7ins.
  1. Boat owners are responsible for ensuring that these cradles are suitable for their boat and are erected, supported and used correctly.
Boat Parks
  1. Parking Spaces:
a.      The ships’ husband will allocate parking spaces for boats.
b.      If space is available private trailers and cradles will be stored in a position approved by the ships’ husband, otherwise owners will be required to remove them from club property.
c.      The club reserves the right to move private cradles and trailers to optimize use of space.
d.      If anti-theft devices are fitted to trailers then a key must be provided to the ships’ husband.
  1. Living on Board
    1. Living on board in the boat park is not permitted
  2. Boat, Trailer and Cradle Identity
a.     Boats must display their name, which has previously been registered with the club membership secretary.
b.     If a boat name is not available the owners name and address must be fixed to the boat, trailer or cradle in a position to provide easy proof of ownership.
  1. The erection of covers, shelters, etc. which fall outside the hull's footprint shall be approved by the Ships Husband and shall be for a fixed period.
  2. The owner is solely responsible for adequately supporting his vessel but will be assisted by the Ships Husband's crew. Should, at any time, the support be deemed unacceptable and the boat owner fails to act then it will be made safe by a professional third party and the boat owner charged for the work.
  3. On removing a boat from the hard the owner must leave the parking area clean and free from debris.
Charges
All charges are inclusive of VAT (Correct in 2008 - check with Shipd Husband for latest charges).
Hoist                          £30.00 per lift
Cradles                     £5.00 per week for the first 2 weeks
                                    £10.00 per week thereafter
Long term rates available depending on demand
Boat parking             Under 30 feet £4.50
                                    30 to 40 feet £5.00
                                    40 to 50 feet £10.00
                                    Over 50 feet £15.00           
Club Slipways             Free of charge for launching members' boats
Club Jetties                Free of charge for the first 2 weeks
                                    Boat park rates apply after 2 weeks
Should a member whose boat is on the hard leave the club, for whatever reason, or transfer the boat to a non-member then the above fees will be tripled. The member will be responsible for paying the fees.

Yachts up to a maximium of 7 tonnes can take advantage of the club hoist to bring their boats ashore for 'laying up', where there is ample space for storage.
