"Men In Rubber" - April 2011
Watch out Danny Boyle, Skippool Creeks own movie director maker Kevin Berry has been hard at work in the editing suite and has made a series of movies featuring the rubber suited stars from the Medium Handicap during the 2011 Frostbite Series. These can be accessed through Youtube. Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4.
Dinghy Review 2009.
Over 40 different crews took part in Club races and regular turnouts of over twenty boats were seen on many occasions. Racing throughout the year has been hard fought. Congratulations must go to Chris Haworth and Joanne Harvey who secured victory in all series except one, where they limped home in second place.
All Series Winners can be found elsewhere on the Web site.
Many dinghy sailors have represented the club further afield this year and with some success. Gordon Kevin travelled to Mumbles Y.C for the Byte C11 nationals and came away with the Title.
Neil Marsden won the 420 Inland Championships. Looks like our future Olympic hopefuls will first have to catch an old dog giving them at least a twenty five year head start.
Others sailing in their respective championships were Paul Reid, Ian Brooker and Paul Long in their Phantoms at Llandudno, Hannah Marsden crewed by Dawn Wilkinson & Bob Johnson RS200 at Loos S.C. and finely Chris Haworth & Jo Harvey travelled to Whitstable for the Merlin Rockets.
Three Merlin Rocket went to Salcombe Week, Chris & Jo, Mike Hamilton & Sam Harvey, and Kevin Berry crewed by John Pamminter. We also had sailors at Bass , Coniston & Abersoch weeks .
Francesca Counsell is currently our only active Topper sailor, usually to be found most weekends travelling up and down Britain’s motorway systems competing in Championships, Grand Prix events, or attending Topper Youth Squad Training Camps.
Although the youth section is currently a little depleted there are a number of younger sailors coming through training this Year . I hope to see them on the water next summer.
This year some B. & F.Y.C members have taken up a new sailing challenge, Team Racing and are now active members of their University Team racing teams.
