About the Club
A Superb Setting
Blackpool and Fleetwood Yacht Club enjoys a magnificent location, situated on the banks of the River Wyre in the midst of an area designated of special scientific interest. The waters are ideal for sailing dinghies, with easy access to the open sea for larger yachts. The footpath, Wyre Way, passes through the club property.
Club Facilities
The modern clubhouse has all of the facilities you would expect of one of the premier clubs in the North West. These include good changing rooms with hot showers, a well stocked bar, excellent catering facilities, a lounge and games room with a snooker table and TV.
Opening Times
Access to the changing rooms can be made at any time, whilst the club bar and lounge is open:-
Tuesdays 2030-2300
Saturday Lunch 1200-1630
Sunday Lunch 1200-1500
What Classes are Sailed
Club dinghy fleets consist of;- RS 400, GP14, Laser, Mirror, Topper.
Fast handicap for boats of PN1178 (124) or less.
Slow Handicap.
Keelboats:-Soling (largest fleet in the UK).
Offshore Yachts -
Any yacht having a PN rating can race.
But I Can't Sail
Training courses are run during the summer months to teach you the basics. Details can be found on the training page.
Boat Storage
Dinghies are stored in a secure compound ashore in numbered bays, whilst the larger yachts and keelboats are berthed along side the jetties, a number belonging to the club and some rented from Wyre Borough Council. Offshore boats up to a maximium of 7 tonnes can take advantage of the recently acquired club hoist to bring their boats ashore for 'laying up', where there is ample space for storage.
Social Events
The social life at the club is organised by the social committee who lay on many events throughout the year. The highlights of which being The Annual Dinner Dance and The Laying Up Supper/Prize-Giving in March. In addition there is usually one other event held each month. The club is available for hire to members at a nominal rate.
